白夜Endless night, director/writer, 2012

This experimental short film embodies the nightmare of woman who stuck in an abusive relationship. Beginning with the woman lying on the floor with broken plates, burning candles and flower around her, the film set build up the tensions and violence. Then the camera shifts to the man who sits on the chair, the patriarchy is obvious and literal. She slowly gets up, tries to reach the man with the flower in her hand; or she could end it all with a knife. The montage sequence is the reference of In the Realm of the Senses (1976, Nagisa Ōshima, Japan) where the protagonist cuts off her master’s penis to cease the affair. Thus, the traditional Japanese drums – Taiko is an essential element for this film as a basic tempo.
